Vitamix 5200Meet your new BFF in the kitchen

1. Vitamix 5200

If you’re looking for a heavy-duty blender that could handle all the ice-crushing, smooth-blending and hardcore grinding you throw its way, this could be just the blender for you. Lauded by several consumer sites such as Consumer Search  as The Best Heavy Duty Blender currently in the market, you just can’t go wrong with this thing.

Durability-wise, you’ll get your money’s worth and so much more because it can take years and years of abuse even from the sloppiest owners (don’t be one of those though). The Vitamix 5200 was initially released in October 2007. But now, six years later and with all the new technology that has happened, amazingly it’s still one of the best and most sought-after blenders. That alone should give you an idea of just how power-packed this toughie is.

2. Blendtec Total Blender Classic Four Side

Vitamix 5200Tough on the ingredients, easy on the eyes.

Also known as Blendtec The Professional’s Choice Total Blender, it is later called the Classic Four Side when the Wildside jars came out.  Aesthetics-wise, this is an awesome choice because of its sleek, modern and digital design with its touch pad and smooth surface. When it comes to performance, you won’t regret it too. Its top of the class 3 horsepower motor can blend anything you throw its way — literally. The worst case that could happen to you with this blender is that if it takes a life of its own and creeps up to your room when you sleep, gnawing at your feet with its high-speed motor (aarrgg!).  Now, that’s stuff out of the worst nightmares!

Seriously though, this is a very versatile product that can do the job of up to nine other kitchen equipment. So you can say goodbye to your juicer, grain mill, coffee grinder, ice crusher, ice cream maker and all the other redundant stuff in your kitchen. This little buddy has got all that it takes to impress.

3. KitchenAid KSB560 5-Speed Blender

KitchenAid KSB560 5-Speed BlenderCould this be your next handy little companion?

Taking its place among the best of the best, the creme of the crop blenders is the relatively inexpensive KitchenAid 5-Speed blender. Performance-wise, it does what the other blenders five times its price does. It can crush ice, make all kinds of beverages, and basically everything you would expect to do. In fact, Cook’s Illustrated was so impressed that they named it their Most Recommended Blender.

The only caveat with this blender though, and it keeps popping up again an again in different user reviews, is its durability. Its polycarbonate container is apparently prone to leaks and cracks, which means you have to buy another replacement jar at around $50 when the one you’re using starts to break after its 1 year warranty.

Bottomline is, if you’re the kind who doesn’t use your blender often and knows how to [very carefully] take care of your appliances, then this could be the one you want.

Product details:

Dimensions: 7 x 8.5 x 15.5”; 12 pounds

Average Amazon Customers Rating: 3.8 out of 5 stars

0.9 HP motor, 56-oz jar, 1 year limited warranty
Price as of this review: $99.99

4. Vitamix Professional Series 500

Vitamix Professional Series 500Fit for the pros!

Another top-rated product from the blender giant Vitamix is the Vitamix Professional Series 500. At almost 600 US dollars, it is easily among the most expensive ones out there. But the question is, is it worth it? Professional reviewers and users alike all agree – it is worth every single penny that you shell out for it.

Its consistent results, variable speed dials and extreme versatility allows you to move a few notches higher in your culinary expertise. With a device as awesome as this, you’ll feel like a pro in no time, whether you’re mixing cocktails and smoothies or creating elaborate desserts and concoctions. Durability-wise, it can take all kinds of challenge you throw its way. That’s the kind of quality you can expect from Vitamix. In fact, some users insist that their Vitamix blenders are still working even after 20 years. Can you imagine that? With the right handling, this blending pro could last you a lifetime too. Which means, more savings than you can ever imagine.

Product details:

Dimensions: 20 x 8.8 x 7.2”; 14.2 pounds

Average Amazon Customers Rating: 4.6 out of 5 stars

2+ Peak horsepower motor, 64oz capacity, 7 years warranty

Price as of this review: $569.00

5. Ninja Professional Blender NJ600

Look at that ninja go!

Another lower-priced blender that makes this list is the Ninja Pro Blender. At around $100 only, it crushes ice like the pro that it claims to be. It can blend, grind, crush and mix just like its pricier counterparts, but just like some other inexpensive models, it often comes with a trade off.

The Ninja Pro comes with an unusual design, with the blades vertically placed inside the pitcher. This makes it quite dangerous to clean, and the wide gaps between the blades results to chunkier smoothies and cocktails. Despite its professional name and appearance, the parts aren’t quite as professional-grade. High-end heavy duty blenders boast of metal parts to turn the blades, this one however, is crafted with plastic parts. So sadly, it doesn’t quite live up to its name.

When it comes to ice-crushing however, that’s where this one aces the test. So if you’re looking for a blender that comes close to the performance of high-powered blenders but you’re only willing to spend about ¼ or 1/5 of the price, then you could be looking at your next blender.

Product details:

Dimensions: 14.4 x 9.2 x 10.5”; 7 pounds

Average Amazon Customers Rating: 3.7 out of 5 stars

8. Waring Pro MBB518 Professional Bar Blender

Waring Pro MBB518 Professional Bar BlenderArt deco design make hipsters go “oohh!”

For those looking for an affordable blender option, here’s a possible choice for you. Some of you can probably remember the Waring blenders of your youth, as used by your moms and grandmas. Waring has been year for ages. Originally becoming a big thing in the 30s, the Waring brand is still here to stay, trying to go toe-to-toe with the other big brands.

When it comes to aesthetics, users love its deco art design. It’s probably going to look good in your kitchen too. Performance-wise, it can handle its own share of blending and grinding. The problem however lies in its durability. Several users complain that it breaks – sometimes even quite dangerously. So if you’re planning to use it sparingly, you may actually give this blender a shot. But if you’re not too keen on gambling your safety – and your money – on a product that has chances of breaking or dying out on you, then you’re better off checking out the pricier brands.

Product details:

Dimensions: 13.9 x 9.8 x 7.9”; 9.9 pounds

Average Amazon Customer Rating: 3.3 out of 5 stars

0.7 horsepower, 40 oz capacity, 1 year limited warranty

Price as of this review: $96.92

9. Breville Hemisphere Control BBL605XL

Breville Hemisphere Control BBL605XLPretty but quite a toughie!

Users and reviewers alike all agree – this one is almost UP THERE with the Blendtec and Vitamix models. With a price that is only half of its pricier counterparts, how can you even plan to snub this blender? Consumer Search calls it their Best General Use Blender as it nearly perfectly blends all kinds of ingredients. Whether you’re making cocktail drinks, smoothies, soups, even the more laborious business of ice-crushing. Everything goes down smoothly, with not a glitch.

When it comes to durability though, there aren’t lots of records yet, considering that this is a recently-released product. Only time will tell if it could be placed up there among the blending greats. But so far, it is made of sturdy quality so it packs a lot of potential.

So if you’re looking for a less expensive but high-performing blender, this could be a good choice. Vitamix and Blendtec blenders have higher horsepower motors as well as bigger jars and longer warranty. But if you could let that pass, then this is a great deal for you.
